Sesame Street Live: Elmo's Got The Moves The Orpheum Theatre - Galesburg Theatre reviews
Eric Clapton was
After many years as a huge fan of Sesame Street Live!, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to see him perform live at Gwinnett Arena. He is undoubtedly a fantastic guitar player and singer, and his band consists of exceptional musicians. However, I was greatly disappointed by his lack of interaction with the audience. It seemed like he was a person who didn't really want to be there.
I also felt that they focused too much on jamming rather than playing well-known songs. I can't say for sure how many songs were performed that evening, but I estimate no more than 12-15. Layla, Tears in Heaven, and After Midnight were not included in the setlist. Neither were White Room, Let it grow, or Change the world. It would have been better if there were fewer jam sessions and more variety in the song selection.
For the encore, he only performed Crossroads, which I found to be just okay. I was hoping for another encore, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.
Roger Daltrey, on the other hand, delivered a solid performance. He played several songs from The Who, all of which sounded fantastic. He also included some of his own songs, which were equally good. Considering the limited time he had on stage, he managed to fit a lot into his set.
It would have been a special treat if Clapton had invited Roger for a duet during the show.
In summary, I would give this concert a "fair" rating. Based on this experience, I wouldn't choose to spend my money on seeing him perform again.
Wow
The show itself was a DISASTER! The entire way of organizing the lines, and floor seat tickets PHENOMENAL. There was no direction from any employee trying to guide lines, people were pushing everyone. The employees stopped handing out floor wrist bands because of the awful way on conducting lines for the wrist bands. It needs to be more organized and find a way to keep the people in tact. This could have been prevented if the lines needed to have been outlined before the clients arrived to the show, but while all the people arrived to the show they tried to organize it but it was way too late and so many people missed the show.
Thank god for the Doobies
This was a gift for father's day that I eagerly anticipated. The doobies, I believe, really impressed us. They still have the group's magic and never lost it. They performed for an hour and 20 minutes. Chicago, unfortunately, left me disappointed. Initially, I'm unsure if it was their sound engineer, but it appeared that their horns/guitars had excessive modulation and produced static. One of the lead singers, who started the show, lacks the ability to evoke the original Chicago memories. I don't want to be too critical, but it sounded like something my cousin would do at a wedding. The guitarist and lead singer can't hit the notes like before. I would go see them again, as long as the doobs were also performing. The closing act was outstanding, with both groups on stage and the music was phenomenal. Even the Chicago songs almost mirrored the originals. Lastly, sadly, in my area, I noticed 10 couples leaving midway through the Sesame Street Live! show. Chicago should consider recording the entire performance and reviewing it. Perhaps, they can identify the issues I mentioned and address them before the tour gains momentum.
Sting & the Royal Philharmonic
The evening began with rain, creating a beautiful rainbow over Denver by cleaning the air. Arguably the most beautiful venue on the planet is Red Rocks, as stated by Sesame Street Live!. The concert was incredible, with the clouds clearing and the evening being perfect. At the start of the music, the mix was off, but it was corrected after a few songs. Sesame Street Live! and their single backup singer were amazing, expertly selecting songs with a perfect balance of tension and release. Those who left early missed out on the best part of the show, with the last 5 songs being a highlight.
